Program of Study
This unique program will allow you to:
Art of Teaching
Sharing yoga is an process of intimacy; one that asks for deep movement within both giver and receiver: through love, authenticity, attention and connection. There are many ways in which yoga can be shared, we believe that the fundamental principle that links all of our yoga teaching is Connection; the concept that in order to truly help another being to find oneness, we must ourselves be a channel to that oneness for our students.
Art of Living
How can I live better, slower, with more authenticity? Why do we do what we do? What are the thoughts that I think? How much more deeply can we inhabit our experience? And, underneath all of the thoughts and questions and memories, Who Am I? There is an art to living well… to living fully, as fully as we can. Philosophers through the ages have speculated on the big questions, and Yoga is just one of infinite pathways to the truth. If you have come to Yoga, chances are you will have asked yourself these questions. As we come together in our group training, we explore these and many more, through examining both our own understanding of the Art of Living and that of the ancient sages.
Art of Practice
It is through the experience of yoga that we understand the infinite nature of our being, where we reach beyond the boundaries of our individual lives and individual experience and touch the unity that is Yoga. The Journey to the Heart Yoga Teacher Training places emphasis on the experiential face of yoga by living our practice as a group - beginning and ending each day with a form of meditation and daily connection to our asana and pranayama. Each morning we wake in silence to meditate as the sun rises, flowing into our internal experience of meditation. As we continue to expand through our teaching, we creatively work with the internal experience and feel what it is to open up our boundaries, as we guide you into deepening your personal practice through Meditation, Pranayama and Asana.
Art of Healing
When we step into the role of Yoga Teacher, we are not simply sharing a physical practice to keep people fit - we are sharing a holistic practice that helps people to heal physically, mentally, emotionally and energetically. And through sharing yoga as a holistic practice of living, we are allowing ourselves as a whole to connect to our true nature, as spiritual beings. The Journey to the Heart 200hr Yoga Teacher Training gives the opportunity for deep self-healing through personal discovery practices, group exercises, intentional discussion and Sacred Ceremony. Our training also offers a wide selection of teachings on complementary health practices, including but not limited to: Ayurveda, nutrition, massage, energetic healing, Tai Chi, Chakra cleansing, herbal healing, and the Yogic diet.

Facilitators
Saraswati Hayley Tennyson is a devoted yogi, permaculture activist, and idea alchemist, Hayley dreamed up The Yoga Forest in early 2009. Her passion for wellness paired with her vision of sustainable living led to the development of the retreat community and transformational learning centre called The Yoga Forest in San Marcos la Laguna on Lake Atitlán, Guatemala. A 20 minute hike up the mountain from the center of San Marcos, The Yoga Forest overlooks Lake Atitlan and it’s amazing volcanoes. Permies and yogis come from all over the world, and devote a month to learning and exploring yoga and Permaculture practices. When Hayley gets a break from teaching and overseeing the operations of the retreat community, she loves to sing, dance and create ceremony in every moment as an expression of the heart. She loves to spending time in the forest, contemplating oneness within nature as well reading in her hammock looking out over the mountains to the volcanoes of Lake Atitlan.
Fascinated by the similar concepts fundamental to yoga philosophy and Permaculture a seed of intention and inquiry was planted deep within. She began fusing these principles as the idea of conscious community rooted in deep green yogabegan to germinate in early 2009 . Her thirst for knowledge and connection led her to Rishkesh, India to the teachings of Yogrishi Vishvketu where she completed a 200hr Akhanda Yoga Teacher Training (YTT) and found a holistic approach to wholeness and the balance of mind-body and spirit. A deep desire for conscious green living practices inspired her to study Permaculture with founders Bill Mollison and Geoff Lawton in Australia in 2012. Exploring playful connections with others in yoga practice, she is also a certified AcroYoga Teacher with AcroYoga Montreal, as she discovered a fun and dynamic creative expression of trust and connection in community. The following year she traveled to Peru to complete a 500YTT with a focus in Shamanic and Ayurvedic cleansing with School Yoga Institute (SYI). Transformed by this experience and eager to continue to share her love of yoga, connection to spirit and conscious living with others, she leads in depth yoga immersions and yoga teacher trainings at The Yoga Forest and in other locations for Kula Collective, SYI and Awakened Spirit Yoga.
She infuses her passion for yoga philosophy with a shamanic connection to the Earth and her cycle's within her teachings. With a desire to share what she likes to think of as deep green yoga, Hayley's guidance offers a holistic expression of conscious living practices and present moment awareness.
